There are a lot of things I have come to love in my years working at Calvary. There is nothing quite like seeing our kids excited to be at Calvary, loving the community they have already found, having lightbulb moments as they learn new truths, and hearing them worship! Above all, I want to follow God’s heart to faithfully lead our Children’s Ministries staff and volunteer teams to pass on our faith to the children that God brings to us.
As our nursery team rocks and cares for our babies, they love them in a way that mirrors God’s love for us. Our preschool teachers, right after parents, get to be some of the first people to share stories about Jesus and his love with our little ones. And our elementary volunteers get the joy of continuing to help our kids get an understanding of the amazing rescue plan God has for them and how much there is for them to discover in God’s Word. Knowing, equipping, and cheering on these volunteers who invest in our children each week is a huge source of joy for me.
While serving our children is an obvious aspect of the Children’s Ministries team’s role, another one close to my heart is partnering with their parents. God allows us to come alongside and support them, but they are the primary faith influencers in their children’s lives. Coming up with new ways to help our parents make the most of this amazing opportunity they have is another part of my job that I love. When they share moments that they see glimpses of God at work in their children through the week, I’m blessed beyond words.
My husband, Shawn, and I have been married for over 20 years. I’m a mom of three and when all of our schedules line up (Shawn is a career fireman which brings planning things to a whole new level of crazy), we spend a lot of time laughing around the dinner table. One of our favorite get-aways is finding a place to hike and enjoy the outdoors - always having an indoor place to sleep at night. Never camping!
