Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1
Having faith or trust in God is foundational in the life of a Christian. Biblical faith is having confidence in who God says he is, and that he will do what he says he will do, despite the circumstances that you can see around you. There are many times that I just don’t understand what God is doing in my life. Why does he allow certain things to happen, or why doesn’t he resolve things that I think need to be resolved? But because of my love and obedience to him, I need to rely on my faith and trust that what he says is true. He loves me. He has my best in mind and has a plan for me. He is always with me. He will sustain me. And he asks me to trust him and to live my life according to his way and not my own.
The awesome thing is that when I place my faith and trust in the One who is almighty, most powerful, and most loving, rather than myself, I can have confidence and security because of who God is. He never fails.
Lord, I thank you for who you are, what you have done, and that you always do what you say you will do. I confess that often when I don’t understand what you are doing, I struggle to trust you with my whole heart. I pray for the courage to trust you completely and I ask you to change my heart. Help me to rely on your strength and power to walk in confidence, knowing that you never change, what you say is true, and that you always come through.
